Music in EYFS is woven throughout the curriculum. This ranges from daily singing (eg: maths/English songs/nursery rhymes) to full-scale nativity productions. Children have access to musical instruments and music-making equipment in continuous provision, indoors and out.
In KS1 and KS2, music is taught through the Learning Means the World thematic curriculum. We have a long-established relationship with Blackpool’s Music Service, providing wider opportunities, such as whole year group brass lessons for children in KS2, adding more value to our KS2 music curriculum.
Beyond these taught classroom sessions, we have a well-established MADD (Music, Dance and Drama) extra-curricular club which performs at ‘Schools Alive’ at The Grand Theatre, Blackpool. We have a KS2 choir which many of our children take part in and join in festive singing at our ‘Family Carols’ evening.
