In EYFS, children learn PE through the Physical Development area of the EYFS framework, and is planned for throughout Continuous Provision. They have indoor and outdoor PE lessons, delivered by our in-house Sports Coaches. Every child in EYFS accompanies our Outdoor Education Leader to do exciting outdoor activities throughout the year.
In KS1 and KS2, pupils receive quality PE sessions, delivered by our experienced Sports Coaches. Y4 and Y5 swim at the local 25m pool and, with the rest of the school, take part in varied, focussed, quality PE sessions. The curriculum is enhanced by special PE days, and ‘Fitness Week’ where all children in the school are off normal timetable to take part in many different sports (provided in-house and from outside agencies). There are extra-curricular sports clubs, including 6 competitive school teams, and our Boy’s and Girl’s football teams perform extremely well in school competitions. Children access our Outdoor Education programme, enjoying activities such as, walking, climbing, abseiling, orienteering, nature walking, caving, kayaking etc).
Assessments for every pupil in the school are taken termly through the school’s Amaven system. This data is then used throughout school to: improve teaching and learning in PE, give the pupils an opportunity to beat their personal best; which adheres to the ‘School Games’ initiative, and finally allows parents to engage in their child’s Physical Education.
