Ofsted
Waterloo was most recently inspected in November 2023. We were inspected under Section 5 of the Education Act, meaning we were subject to a two day, graded inspection. An HMI (His Majesty’s Inspector) and two Ofsted inspectors visited lessons with school leaders, spoke to children, parents, staff and governors. The team looked at work in pupil books, scrutinised data and other aspects of school life, such as safeguarding and behaviour.

Safeguarding & Child Protection
Safeguarding
The safety and well-being of all our children is of paramount importance to us. Our safeguarding policy ensures there are effective measures in place to safeguard our children from the risk of potential harm. All members of our school community:
- are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection
- know the procedures that should be followed if they have a cause for concern
- know where to go to find additional information regarding safeguarding
- are aware of the key indicators relating to child abuse
- fully support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection
The Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) for Safeguarding and Child Protection at Waterloo Primary Academy are: Mrs J Brown, Mr M Hamblett, Miss K Huson, Mr D Woodcock
Anti-Bullying
Keeping safe from bullying is an integral part of our curriculum. Through our values-based assemblies, our inspirational curriculum and our behaviour policy, our pupils learn how to behave towards each other through the British values of tolerance and mutual respect.
Prevent Strategy
Prevent is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorist or extremist causes. Many of the things we do in school are designed to help pupils become positive, happy members of society which also contribute to the Prevent strategy.
