Waterloo Primary Academy

Our Governors

Academy Council (our governing body)

Our Academy Council is the governing body of Waterloo Primary Academy. It is made up of a group of committed volunteers who care deeply about our school and the children who attend it. Members bring a range of skills, experiences and perspectives, all of which help to support and challenge the school in a positive and constructive way.

Academy Council members have powers delegated to them by the Trustees of Zest Academy Trust and work closely with school leaders to help ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils. The Academy Council meets at least three times each year to discuss key areas of school life, including learning, wellbeing, safeguarding and the overall direction of the school.

In addition to formal meetings, Academy Council members take on link governor roles. This means they visit school regularly to see learning in action, talk with staff and pupils, and develop a good understanding of how the school is doing. These visits help governors to ask informed questions and make sure decisions are always made with children’s best interests at heart.

You may see members of the Academy Council around school during visits or events. While they are not involved in the day-to-day running of the school, they play an important role in providing support, challenge and oversight, helping Waterloo Primary Academy remain a safe, happy and successful place to learn.

Our Academy Council members are:
