Extra-Curricular Activities

At Waterloo, we are proud to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities for all our children. Our clubs are an important and valued part of school life, and we warmly encourage children to take part. They are open to everyone and reflect our commitment to inclusion, enjoyment and personal development.

Extra-curricular activities help children to build confidence when interacting socially with others, widen their friendships and develop new skills and interests. Many of our clubs also provide opportunities for children to represent the school, offering enriching experiences and creating lasting memories.

Our sports teams regularly take part in local competitions, supporting children to develop teamwork, resilience and a strong sense of sportsmanship. We also offer a range of creative clubs, such as dance and choir, where children may have the opportunity to perform at well-known venues including the Winter Gardens and the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. A range of after-school clubs are offered each half term, this half term's include choir, athletics, football, dance, multi-sports, basketball and reading club. We aim to provide a varied offer so that all children can find an activity they enjoy and feel confident taking part.

All after-school activities are led by experienced members of staff or approved providers, and children are supervised in line with our usual school safeguarding arrangements. We work hard to ensure that clubs are safe, inclusive and enjoyable, and that children feel supported throughout.

Unless otherwise stated, after-school clubs begin immediately after school and finish at 4.20pm. Children remain in our care until they are collected by a parent or carer, or until agreed arrangements for walking home are in place. Children in Years 5 and 6 may walk home independently only when written permission has been provided by their parent or carer.

Clubs operate on a half-termly basis and may occasionally be subject to cancellation. Where this is necessary, parents will be informed via the school app or by telephone as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding if, on rare occasions, notice has to be short.
